Alibaug is the closest beach getaway to Mumbai, accessible by a ferry ride (ferries operational Oct-May) across the gateway of India in South Mumbai. Mandawa (where you alight from a ferry) - Kihim - Alibaug is home to many a beach bungalow and a few resorts. While most visited beaches of Alibaug and around (Kihim and Varsoli are touristy and not good for Swimming), Nagaon a few kms away is where one finds good quality beaches, watersports and green surroundings. Alibaug Beach

The Alibaug beach is the main touristy beach closest to the town. Beach is not good for swimming. The Kolaba fort, a sea fort can be seen from here and is situated in the centre of the beach and can be visited when the water dries up.


Kolaba Fort

Kolaba fort is a seafort that is accessible from Alibaug beach when tide is low. Its a popular tourist visit option for day visitors to Alibaug.


Jewish Synagogue

Alibaug town and its surrounding villages are the historic hinterland of Bene Israeli Jews. There is a Synagogue in the "Israel Ali" area of the town.


Varsoli Beach

An Idyllic Beachfront at 2 kms from Alibuag town centre.


Akshi Beach

Akshi beach is an idyllic beach at 6 kms from Alibag. Akshi is safe for swimming and its where many film shoots have been conducted.


Undheri Fort

Undheri Fort is a sea fort at 9 kms from Alibaug towards Kihim. Fort was built by Siddhis in 1680 and is now in ruins.


Kihim Beach

A rocky beach face at 11 kms from Alibaug towards Mandwa Jetty.


Kankeshwar Temple

Kankeshwar temple is a lord shiva temple at 13 kms from Alibaug. The temple is built on a 1000 feet high hill and to get to the temple one has to climb few hundred stairs.

Datta Mandir

Datta Mandir is a locally renowned temple at 18 kms from Alibaug near Chaul area off Alibaug - Revdanda road. One has to climb around 700 stairs to reach this shrine. Hingulja Mandir is another renowned temple near datta mandir.


Birla Ganesh Temple

A white granite Lord Ganesha temple in the premises of Vikram Ispat. Temple is visited by tourists, pilgrims and locals all through the year.


Mandwa Jetty

Mandwa is where guests alight from a ferries arriving from Gateway of India (South Mumbai). Many bollywood personalities and industry honchoes own bungalows at Mandwa.


Rewas Beach

Rewas is set at about 24 kms from Alibaug and its from here that locals take a ferry service to Mumbai (Bhaucha Dhakka) and Uran.


Korlai village

A rocky beach situated between revdanda and Kashid, a village of Indians born of Indo-Portuguese ancestors, speaking a unique creole language of Portuguese. Beach has been invaded by local sand mafias and therefore dont wear a pleasant look except during high tide. There is also fort and lighthouse overlooking the beach.


Watersports at Kashid Beach

One of the best beaches South of Mumbai having a 3 km stretch. The touristy end has guest houses, shops and many activities for day tourists. Watersports such as Banana Boat ride, water scooter etc are on offer on weekends alongwith Quad bike ride.

Shitla Devi Temple

Shitla Devi Temple is a locally renowned temple on Alibag-Revdanda Road at 14 kms from Alibaug



Chaul is a historic town situated about 15 km away from Alibag. It is renowned for its portuguese ruins, an old church, a synagogue, Buddhist caves and Datta mandir.


Rameshwar Temple

Rameshwar temple is an ancient Lord Shiva temple near Chaul on Alibaug - Revdanda coastal road. There are three tanks attached to the temple. Rameshwar temple is a typical simple coastal temple that is high on character and history.
